The Winery:
Truchard is located in a beautifully restored rustic barn which was turned into a tasting room and winery in 1989. The facility is surrounded by estate vineyards as well as beautifully manicured gardens and lawns, which enhance the experience. The estate has five acres of olive trees, whose products are used in the creation of olive oil for sale on site. Tastings are by appointment only and can include a tour of the vineyards and cave.
|
The Vineyards:
The vineyards started as 20 acres in 1974. That number has now grown to 383 acres, with 270 planted to ten varietals including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Tempranillo, Roussanne, and Chardonnay. The large number of microclimates the estate encompasses allows the winery to produce a wide range of grape varieties. The bulk of these grapes are sold to other premiere wineries in the Napa area.
|
The Wines:
All of the wines of Truchard are made from estate grown fruit which the winemaker feels gives these wines a great sense of place. Although they do produce the Burgundian varietal wines of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the estate has been quite successful with the production of the less common Bordeaux varietal wines.

Prior to working for Truchard Mr. De Ianni worked at Hess Collection and Cuvaison in Napa, as well as in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
