The Winery:     Madonna is owned and operated by one of Napa Valley’s oldest winemaking families, the Bartoluccis. The family’s first vineyard and winery, founded in the 1920s, was located in the Oakville region of the valley, and was sold in 1970. The family then purchased the land in Los Carneros and once again began to grow grapes. Within a few years the desire to produce commercial wines grew too strong and the new Madonna Winery was built. It is a beautiful Spanish Style facility with a wonderful, shade covered lawn and picnic area next the tasting room.
The Vineyards:    The vineyards are all organically certified and are primarily dry farmed. There are 160 acres planted in the Carneros area Madonna Vineyard, which is made up of shallow dense clay soils. The vineyards are planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Muscat Canelli.
The Wines:     The winery is blessed with the ability to produce not only complex, well structured Pinot Noirs, but also deeply flavored Cabernet Sauvignon with great, dusty tannins. The Chardonnays are aged sur lie in French Oak, giving them a full body and flavor.
The Winemaker:     The winemaker at Madonna is Andrea “Buck” Bartolucci, who has been producing wines for the family as a home winemaker and commercial winemaker since 1967.
