The Winery:
The winery and tasting room complex was designed after the country estate of an owner of Taittinger Champagne in France. This is an impeccably maintained estate, with formal French Gardens and magnificent views of the surrounding Los Carneros countryside. Tastings are done in either the marble tasting room or on the expansive terraces that surround the facility. In addition to the tastings, wines by the glass and by the bottle can be purchased.
|
The Vineyards:
The estate maintains four separate certified organic vineyards throughout the Carneros region. They use multiple clones with subtle differences in flavor and intensity, giving their wines a wonderful depth of complexity.
|
The Wines:
Partially owned by one of the great Champagne Houses of France, Taittinger, the winery is best known for the product done in the Methode Champenoise style. Although these wines can achieve better fruit maturity than those from Champagne, they still maintain that great yeastiness, piercing acidity and silky finish that marks a great sparkling wine. They also produce Pinot Noirs of great finesse.

The Winemaker:

TJ Evans has a Master's Degree in Food Science, Enology Specialization, from the University of California, Davis and over the past decade has worked within the wine industry in the U.S., New Zealand, and France before joining Domaine Carneros. Eileen Crane has a Master’s Degree in nutrition as well as professional training from the Culinary Institute of America. She completed studies in Enology and Viticulture at the University of California at Davis, and worked for Domaine Chandon and Gloria Ferrer prior to overseeing the development of the Carneros Chateau.
