The Winery:
The estate in Carneros covers 350 acres and offers a wine adventure at the large farm house styled tasting room, beautifully landscaped grounds, and event facilities. There are six spring-fed ponds, over 5,000 rose bushes, and even a California Missions Museum for your enjoyment. This is a spot that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
|
The Vineyards:
The winery’s incredible old vine Carignane and Mourvèdre both come from the family vineyards in the Oakley area. They also produce a fair amount of their Zinfandel from the old vines there. The hot summers at these vineyards are tempered by the cooling effect of the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers, while the sandy soils of the region have acted as a natural barrier to Phylloxera. At their Carneros vineyards, they grow varietals common to the Northern Rhone, such as Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne.

The Wines:
Cline is a winery known for its great big powerful Zinfandels as well as their Ancient-Vine Mourvèdre and Carignane. The Carignan is particularly fun for the modest price and absolutely worth trying. Their Ancient-Vine Mourvèdre has been quite an award winner and another unusual wine everyone should try at least once.
