The Winery:     Ceja has grown out of a celebration of family, and a love of the land. Brothers Pedro and Armando Ceja were born in Aguililla, Michoacan and immigrated to the Napa Valley with their parents in 1967. President Amelia Morán Ceja, the first Mexican-American woman to be president of a wine production company, immigrated with her parents from Jalisco, Mexico, to the Napa area in 1967. Martha Ceja was born in St. Helena to parents who immigrated to Napa from Jalisco, Mexico, in 1960. The estate reflects the love and respect for the land that brought these families together. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, scattered with intriguing garden sculptures and include a fully equipped outdoor kitchen for entertaining. The winery recently opened a tasting room in downtown Napa, at 1248 First St., the Downtown Napa Wine Tasting Salon and Lounge.
The Vineyards:    Started with 15 acres in the Carneros region, the estate has now grown to 113 sustainably farmed acres. There are four separate vineyard sites; at the winery site on Las Amigas they grow Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, on Arnold Drive in Sonoma they have Merlot and Chardonnay, at Date Ave in Sonoma where they produce Pinot Noir, and Adobe Road in Petaluma where they grow Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Arneis and Syrah.
The Wines:     The winery specializes in the cool region wines of this area of coastal influence, particularly Pinot Noir. The wines are crisp with a hint of the tropics. The Pinot is pure silk on the palate with vibrant red fruit, spice and tea and a lively acidity. Their bright and refreshing Carneros Chardonnay is aged sur-lie giving it a soft creaminess, but with crisp citrus fruit, green apple and pear.
The Winemaker:     The winemaker at Ceja is Armando Ceja who has had a lifetime affair with winegrowing and winemaking. He began his winegrowing at age seven and created his first barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon at 18. Mr. Ceja has a degree in enology & viticulture and has extensive experience as a vineyard manager in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys.
