The Winery:
The modern, attractive winery and tasting room facility sits on a hillside with incredible views across the local vineyards and wetlands to San Pablo Bay. The tasting room has high ceilings and large windows, which makes the room bright and airy with incredible views.
|
The Vineyards:
The 150 acres of estate vineyards flourish in the cooling influence of the ocean breeze and summer fog. The winery specializes in the production of single vineyard Pinot Noir from the Carneros area, including the St. Clair, Beckstoffer, Lone Tree and Winery Lake vineyards. They purchase Chardonnay from local vineyards, as well as a few from distinguished vineyards in Monterey, Paso Robles and Santa Maria, which ads complexity to select wines.
|
The Wines:
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the source of the reputation of Acacia’s wines, and was one of the first California wineries to establish vineyard-designated Pinot Noir. They produce both a vineyard blend and single vineyard Chardonnay.
|
The Winemaker:
Matthew Glynn is the winemaker at Acacia. He has a graduate degree from UC Davis in viticulture and enology. He also received the laureate award from Conférie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, France’s famous wine brotherhood, which allowed him to study winemaking extensively in Burgundy. He has also worked at Gallo of Sonoma prior to joining Acacia in 2005.
